With our down economy, you’ll want to start saving money for a rainy day. This is good thinking and you should definitely feel proud of yourself for planning ahead. Here are some money saving tips to help you keep cash in your pocket.

limit your descretionary spending such as going to the movies, ice cream, clothes

start squeezing pennies, save your change, clip coupons

cut cable, and going out to eat bills

ask for discounts on your phone bill

start car pooling to work and bring your lunch

eat meals together, not seperately

These saving money tips are a really good start to increasing your bankroll and getting the cash you need. Remember that it is ok to ask for a break on your phone or cable bill. Many times all you have to do is ask and you can get one so why not take advantage of this while you can.

When you go to work, you can save money by going the thrifty route. Stop buying your lunch in the cafeteria or nearby restaurants, this is going against the whole point to you working – to make money, so definitely cut back on work lunches.

Another way to save money is to make money. Try making money online with a blog like this one. Write about what you love and see if you can’t get extra cash in your pocket every month. Over the course of the year, many part time bloggers make a $1,000 or more dollars. This is a question I get often asked: “How much do bloggers make a year?”

Use common sense again to save money again. Cut back on things you don’t need or only think you need but really don’t. By doing this, making extra money on the Internet and down spending on items you do buy, you can really start saving a lot of money.

There are a number of sites that help you manage your budget and money. These sites have you enter your bills, income, and expenditures and tell you where you are overspending and need to cut back. Similarly, you can also find out when you are in the red and where you are saving money. However, these sites such as Mint.com and QuickenOnline are merely facilitators. You can accomplish this same function by opening an excel spread sheet and writing every expense while calculating your incomes in accounts receivable. Simply create a few mathematical formulas at the end of each column and your totals will be automatically calculated.
